You need an Ethernet cable to connect via Ethernet. It’s that simple. But you can connect to a wireless network wirelessly as long as you have a wireless adapter. Apple’s wireless networking tool is called Airport.
On your Dell computer, providing you’re running Windows, open your Network Places and find the connection that matches your connection. Choose properties and select the TCP/IP properties. Your router address is shown as your “gateway address.”
